Andrich, David – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2016
This article reproduces correspondence between Georg Rasch of The University of Copenhagen and Benjamin Wright of The University of Chicago in the period from January 1966 to July 1967. This correspondence reveals their struggle to operationalize a unidimensional measurement model with sufficient statistics for responses in a set of ordered…

Andrich, David – Applied Psychological Measurement, 1978
When the logistic function is substituted for the normal, Thurstone's Case V specialization of the law of comparative judgment for paired comparison responses gives an identical equation for the estimation of item scale values, as does the Rasch formulation for direct responses. Comparisons are made. (Author/CTM)

Andrich, David – Psychometrika, 1982
An elaboration of a psychometric model for rated data, which belongs to the class of Rasch models, is shown to provide a model with two parameters, one characterizing location and one characterizing dispersion. Characteristics of the dispersion parameter are discussed. (Author/JKS)

Andrich, David – Applied Psychological Measurement, 1979
A latent trait measurement model in which ordered response categories are both parameterized and scored with successive integers is investigated and applied to a summated rating or Likert questionnaire. This is a practical procedure for measuring attitudes. (Author/MH)

Constable, Elizabeth; Andrich, David – 1984
In circumstances where judges are required to make ratings of performance, it is usually required to have two or more raters who are trained to agree on independent ratings of the same performance. It is suggested that such a requirement may produce the paradox of attenuation associated with item analysis, in which too high a correlation between…
