Geographic skills are defined, developed, and categorized in the setting of an introductory physical geography college course and examples are given of the activities used in the laboratory to foster decision making and problem solving. Some comment is also made on the teaching styles which appear appropriate to foster such skill development.…

An integration of human geography concepts and physical geography concepts into one course is proposed; and the conceptual framework, teaching strategies and materials, and difficulties of introducing an innovative course are discussed. (ND)
