Instructional Development in Higher Education: A Case Study of the Learning Resources Service, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
Akanbi, David; And Others
The Learning Resources Service (LRS) at Southern Illinois State University at Carbondale is a department that has evolved from a film service to a broad-based instructional design center. It is involved in some aspects of faculty development, and the relationship between this involvement and traditional instructional design can be viewed in the framework of the Bergquist and Phillips model. The instructional development component of that model has been operationalized for use in the LRS. The logical next step may be a coordinated effort for organizational development in a variety of the university's programs, and a centralized faculty development center. (MSE)
