Fifty picture storybooks appearing on the "Children's Choices for 1979" list were analyzed to discover what story structures children preferred. Concludes that children prefer storybooks with episodic plots involving confrontation with a problem, and characters who have opposing points of view or who experience the same thing in contrasting ways.
