PAATCH: Program of Auditory Articulation Therapy for Children.
Hill, Diane Pagnotto
This manual describes auditory training activities that de-emphasize production work for articulation-impaired preschoolers. The goal of these activities is to remove the burden of producing sounds so that the clinician can train the child's ear so that the child will eventually be ready and able to produce sounds at an age-appropriate level. The activities are best suited for children with no other physical, neurological, or intellectual disabilities and who demonstrate age-appropriate language skills. Working principles for success are listed for clinicians. Four easy introductory activities are presented in the first section. Basic auditory training games and activities are included in Group II activities. Group III activities involve more advanced auditory training games and activities. The fourth group of activities incorporates production training and can be used once the child demonstrates readiness. Referent Program Cards for 21 sounds are included. (CB)
