This guide has been developed as a resource to be used by and with youth in grades 9-12 and beyond. It will help them consider the following questions: What am I good at? How do I know my options? Should I take a year off or apply for some post-secondary program? Structured around the newly designed High School Students tab on the Alberta Learning Information Service Web site, this resource helps students use the Internet while being guided through the following four easy steps in the career and education planning process: (1) Getting to Know Yourself; (2) Exploring Possibilities; (3) Choosing a Direction; and (4) Making it Happen. The guide includes a budget worksheet for students as well as self-assessment quizzes to evaluate one's skills, interests and personality traits. Focus tested with senior high school students, this guide represents the new standard in using online resources to lead youth in planning for their future. (Contains 4 endnotes.)
