Editor in Chief[R] Beginning: Grammar Disasters and Punctuation Faux Pas.
Beckwith, Carrie; Block, Cheryl; Broz, Christine; Hockett, Margaret; White, David
This workbook is designed as an introduction to the "Editor in Chief" series, which reinforces the rules of written English. In this workbook, student first review the rules of grammar and mechanics using multiple-choice questions; then the students learn to apply these rules in context by editing stories in a variety of formats. This "Beginning" workbook, which meets standards for grades three and four, is divided into units so that students can focus on one skill at a time: Capitalization; Punctuation; Run-ons and Fragments; Dialog; Friendly Letter; Grammar; and Usage and Spelling. Each unit begins with a student guide to the specific rules covered; the guide is intended for review rather than instruction. The workbook can be used as an individual or group activity for instruction, reinforcement, practice, and assessment of English grammar and mechanics. Contains an answer key and a teacher's guide to grammar, usage, and punctuation. (PM)
