Green Schools Energy Project: A Step-by-Step Manual.
Quigley, Gwen
This publication contains a step-by-step guide for implementing an energy-saving project in local school districts: the installation of newer, more energy-efficient "T-8" fluorescent tube lights in place of "T-12" lights. Eleven steps are explained in detail: (1) find out what kind of lights the school district currently uses; (2) form a group to work on the project; (3) prepare for a meeting to tell people about the project and to get more people involved in helping; (4) hold a good meeting; (5) do the necessary investigation to find out about the school district's energy use and how much energy the school district could save; (6) figure out how much energy and money the school district can save and how much pollution it can prevent; (7) build a coalition of supportive people to help convince the school district to make the changes; (8) approach the school board and encourage them to make these energy-saving changes happen in the district; (9) follow-up with the school district to encourage them to make this happen (not just shelve it); (10) celebrate for helping the school district save lots of energy and money and help to save the planet; and (11) start another project.
