This illustrated booklet, prepared to help Buffalo students choose a public high school according to their special interests, may also serve as a model for preparing other school choices brochures. It is divided into eight major sections, reflecting the diversity of specialized schools and programs operated by the Buffalo Public School District: (1) arts; (2) business; (3) college preparation; (4) construction; (5) manufacturing; (6) public and personal services; (7) technology; and (8) transportation. Relevant courses of study are grouped under each of these fields. In addition, the booklet lists available electives; describes post-graduate programs, career exploration opportunities, and independent study as well as volunteer, tutoring, and special programs; presents in-depth information on the Buffalo Vocational Technical Center; lists high school extracurricular activity choices; outlines the curriculum for all ninth grade students; provides a directory of Buffalo schools by course of study (academic, vocational, etc.), geographic location, and special program; and presents an outline of options and considerations for applying to schools.
