Storey, Keith – Education and Training in Mental Retardation, 1993
This paper addresses the issues of molar versus molecular assessment of integration of people with disabilities, definitions of integration, and assessment in measuring integration. Measures for four integration components are presented: (1) physical integration, (2) social integration, (3) relationships, and (4) social networks. (Author/DB)

Nozza, Robert J.; And Others – Journal of Speech and Hearing Research, 1991
Infants (n=34) were tested on a speech-sound discrimination-in-noise task using the visual reinforcement of infant speech discrimination procedure. An adult control group was also tested. The infant-adult difference in discrimination threshold in noise was 6.9 dB. Advantages of this adaptive threshold procedure and possible applications are noted.…

Reed, Michael L. – Education and Treatment of Children, 1993
This paper describes the Revised Arena Format (RAF) and recommends its use in conducting multidisciplinary evaluations of young children suspected of developmental delays. The RAF appears to offer significant advantages in terms of behavior management, timeliness, and thoroughness. (Author/JDD)

Hogard, Elaine – American Journal of Evaluation, 2007
This article introduces a novel consultative method termed reconstitutive ethnography, considered useful for the in-depth description and analysis of the interaction between professional and client in the delivery of a health or social care program. Holden, Ronald R. – 1985
Modern test construction strategies in the areas of personality and psychopathology differ in the use of disguise within test stimulus material. Previous research on the validity of using disguised test item content has favored the rational strategy of test construction which views disguise as a liability under normal test-taking circumstances.…

Williams, David – 1984
The purpose of this paper is to summarize some of the author's logical and empirical reflections on the practice of using naturalistic techniques to conduct evaluations. The main assertion to be supported by these reflections is that naturalistic evaluation is possible and in some cases powerful. This assertion is supported through a review of (1)…

Schiavetti, Nicholas; And Others – Journal of Speech and Hearing Research, 1994
This study determined through psychophysical comparison of scaling data that speech naturalness judgments of stutterers and nonstutterers from audiovisual recordings form a metathetic (or qualitative) rather than prothetic (or quantitative) continuum. Both direct magnitude estimation and equal-appearing interval scaling were valid, but interval…

Amerman, James D. – Journal of Speech and Hearing Research, 1993
This study, involving 20 adults, introduced a relative target method to examine the fine force control characteristics of the lips. Load equalization for each lip was accomplished by establishing four submaximal target levels related to maximum voluntary closing force. The upper lip was found to be more stable in controlling force at all levels.…

Lohrmann-O'Rourke, Sharon; Browder, Diane M. – American Journal on Mental Retardation, 1998
A review of the literature provides a synthesis of 18 years of research on preference assessment with individuals who have severe disabilities. Recommendations for designing…

Holburn, Steve; Jacobson, John W.; Vietze, Peter M.; Schwartz, Allen A.; Sersen, Eugene – American Journal on Mental Retardation, 2000
This paper considers the measurement of person-centered planning with developmentally disabled individuals. It reports on the development of three instruments to assess person-centered planning and both a process and an outcome index. Cordes, Anne K. – Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research, 2000
In this study, 30 judges identified disfluency types they perceived in audiovisually recorded speech stimuli, first individually and then with a partner. Although intrapair and interpair agreement was higher in the partner than the individual condition, agreement for occurrences still averaged below 50 percent. Findings suggest caution in use of…

Cassidy, Simon – Educational Psychology, 2004
Although its origins have been traced back much further, research in the area of learning style has been active for--at a conservative estimate--around four decades. During that period the intensity of activity has varied, with recent years seeing a particularly marked upturn in the number of researchers working in the area. Also of note is the…
