More Paper out the Door: Ten Inexpensive Ways to Stimulate Proposal Development
Porter, Robert
Research Management Review, v18 n1 p64-72 Spr-Sum 2011
Conventional wisdom says that the way to win more awards is to get researchers writing more proposals. Yet many incentives designed to stimulate proposal development can be hard on the bottom line, especially those that pay researchers for their time or to attend grant-writing workshops presented by outside consulting firms. This paper presents ten inexpensive strategies the research office can use to stimulate researchers to write more and better proposals. Most of these techniques require little more than efficient use of existing institutional resources. (Contains 1 table.)
