Japanese Education Reforms in the 1980s.
Shimahara, Nobuo K.
Issues in Education, v4 n2 p85-100 Fall 1986
Discusses the background and salient characteristics of Japan's educational reform movement. Until recently, Japan's formal education system was uniform, centrally controlled, and geared to developing character and cultural sensitivity.
