What Is in a Name? The Impact of Strategic Name Change on Student Enrollment in Colleges and Universities.

A study compared enrollment patterns at 140 colleges and universities five years before and five years after they changed their names, predicting that the strategy of changing the institution's name would positively influence enrollment. Results indicate that on average, the strategic name change did not affect enrollment, and only 7% of institutions surveyed experienced significant growth. (Author/MSE)
