This resource book seeks to provide the building blocks needed for public speaking while eliminating the fear factor. The book explains how educators can perfect their oratorical capabilities as well as enjoy the security, confidence, and support needed to create and deliver dynamic speeches. Following an Introduction: A Message for Teachers, Principals, and School Administrators, the book is divided into 24 chapters under 8 headings. Chapters in Part III, Speaking before Parent Groups, are: (9) Scheduled Parent Meetings; (10) Working with Parents on More Difficult Issues; (11) Presenting a Persuasive Line of Reasoning; (12) Asking for Support; (13) If You Need to Speak on a Moment's Notice; and (14) How to Field Questions from Your Audience. Chapters in Part IV, Speaking before Parent-Teacher-Student Association Groups, are: (15) Creating a Speech to Inform; and (16) Presenting Yourself and Your Speech. Chapters in Part V, Speaking before Collegial Groups, are: (17) Beyond Words--How to Use Visual and Other Aids; and (18) Leading a Staff or Inservice Meeting.
