This guidebook provides a general overview of procedures that may be followed in staff misconduct situations. Following the preface and introduction, part 1 contains four chapters that present information on general misconduct procedures, serious misconduct requiring immediate suspension, the presentation of a case at a hearing, and misconduct charge statements. Part 2 contains nine chapters that deal specifically with the following situations: sexually related misconduct; controlled substances; theft and fraud; misconduct outside the school setting; abusive, insulting, or profane language; corporal punishment; insubordination; neglect of duty; and tardiness. The book includes examples of standards of acceptable conduct for staff members, an allegation-of-misconduct report form, diagrams of the human body, the misconduct setting, major points of a letter of reprimand dealing with each of the above-mentioned situations, a progressive discipline log, charts showing examples of misconduct, and an index.
