Introducing an International Dimension into the Social Studies Methods Course.
Gilliom, M. Eugene; Harf, James E.
If social studies teachers are to build an international or global perspective into their teaching, they should not only be exposed to the substance of global education throughout their academic training, but should also be introduced to teaching methods and materials that are international in character. This presentation considers ways in which an international perspective might be introduced into secondary social studies methods courses. Two approaches--the infusion treatment and the discrete treatment--are described. Six recommendations are given dealing with steps that should be taken to introduce an international or global perspective to social studies teacher education. (CB)
