A selected annotated bibliography on managing development projects, intended for rural development practitioners, highlights items that outline some pressing issues and concerns confronting those involved in rural development in general and rural project management in particular. A section of annotated entries lists 21 publications on project management, dating between 1972 and 1981; these include material on specific projects in China, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Indonesia, and other developing nations, as well as more general works on such topics as report writing, project planning, local revenue administration, organization design, and integrated communication. Special foci include practical strategies for managing development projects, improved training for management personnel in developing countries, and greater managerial involvement of the project beneficiaries. A second section contains unannotated entries on six recent acquisitions. The staff of the Non-Formal Education Information Center between 1976 and 1981 is listed. (MH)
