Better Science: Key Proposals. Curriculum Guide 1.
Michell, Mick, Comp.
This publication is one in a series of 12 giving the recommendations that were made for a broad and balanced education program in science for young people. Section one of this guide deals with the factors that were the reason for the implementation of a review process, a listing of financial sponsors and other "in kind" help from industry, the organizational structure, and the successes and failures of the committee. There are 16 recommendations regarding the objectives that should have been achieved by students listed in section two. Section three contains resource implications for: (1) children; (2) science teachers; (3) science departments; (4) schools; (5) local education authorities; and (6) the government. Included are an appendix containing a summarized reply from the Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council Department of Education to the document on curriculum proposals for science education, a list of sources which were used during the research and developmental stages of the review, a list of references, and an index.
