The brief narrative report on the impact of the elimination of the educational computing program, which was implemented at the University of Maine at Presque Isle in the fall of 1985 and discontinued after the spring semester of 1986, considers the likely effects of this decision on the campus mission, students, faculty, the University of Maine as a whole, and on the university's facilities and budget. The history of the program from fall 1982 to spring 1986 is presented as a timeline, and various program statistics are also provided. The appendices, which make up the major part of the report, include: (1) the original program proposal; (2) a letter requesting that the proposal be considered; (3) comments on the proposal from the State Department of Education and Cultural Services; (4) an outline for an introductory course in educational computing; (5) outlines for both introductory and intermediate educational computing courses; (6) radio public service announcements used to announce the program; (7) a detailed proposal for a program for certification in educational computing; (8) correspondence with the State Department of Education and Cultural Services relating to teacher certification for graduates of the program; (9) correspondence relating to the termination of the program; and (10) outlines for an intermediate course and an advanced course.
