Washington Community Colleges Fall Quarter Report, 1984.
Washington State Board for Community Coll. Education, Olympia.
Fall 1984 data on enrollments, student characteristics, and personnel at Washington community colleges are provided in this report and contrasted with historical data for fall quarters 1980 through 1983. First, report highlights are presented, indicating: (1) restoration of evening and off-campus enrollment was the principal trend evident in the comparison of fall 1983 to previous quarters, with a 3.5% increase in evening, off-campus full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollment in state-funded courses, and a 14.8% increase in off-campus enrollments; (2) day-time, on-campus enrollment fell by 1.7%; (3) enrollments by students over 30 years old increased by 8,000 persons, while the number of 17 to 20 year old students decreased by 3,300; (4) part-time faculty increased from 37% to 39% of the total number of faculty; and (5) state-supported FTE enrollments increased by 17.7% in basic skills programs. Part I of the report focuses on enrollment, providing data on headcount and FTE enrollment by funding source (i.e., state monies, external grants and contracts, and student fees). Tables provide overviews of enrollments by course intent category, time/location, instructional subject areas, and full-/part-time status; and of FTE faculty by full-/part-time status. Part II presents data on student characteristics, including information on ethnicity, age, sex, veteran status, residency status, and credit hour loads. Part III offers employment status data on faculty and administrative personnel, and classified staff for the system as a whole and by college. (LAL)
