How Community Theater Can Enrich the Life of a Person with Special Needs
Roy, Barbara
Exceptional Parent, v37 n12 p32-33 Dec 2007
Almost all schools offer some sort of theater program, and many towns produce community plays. These events can be wonderful opportunities for children with special needs to gain a sense of belonging, develop social skills, and use their creative imaginations. But often individuals with special needs don't become involved. Why? Perhaps the task seems too daunting or the chances of getting cast seem too small. In this article, the author discusses some of the questions parents and children may have about getting into a play.
