Sharing a Reading Technique with Families
Irish, Christy K.; Parsons, Seth A.
Reading Teacher, v69 n6 p607-610 May-Jun 2016
Sharing reading techniques with families is an important responsibility of teachers. Dialogic reading is one way to improve young students' expressive vocabulary skills, which are important for later reading success. Dialogic reading also supports students' understanding of story structure and content. This well researched technique has not been disseminated to families as well as it has been to classroom teachers. The purpose of this article is to provide ways that teachers may share this technique with families.
