Everyday Learning about Healthy Bodies. Everyday Learning Series. Volume 4, Number 1
McCrea, Nadine
Early Childhood Australia
The "Everyday Learning" series has been developed to focus attention on the everyday ways in which children can be supported in their growth and development. It is for all those who are involved in children's development and learning, including early childhood professionals in all children's services, parents, grandparents and others with an ongoing responsibility for young children. "Everyday Learning about Healthy Bodies" outlines the basics of developing strong foundations for a healthy lifestyle for young children. With an emphasis on healthy eating and lots of physical activity, the author provides expert guidance in a simple and effective way for parents, grandparents and other carers of babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. With ever-increasing awareness of the issue of obesity in children, this book is a great starting point for encouraging your child to develop sound habits that will ensure their future well-being. This book is divided into four sections. The first section, Introduction, presents: (1) Learning about Our Bodies and Lifestyles; (2) Changing Lifestyles Mean Changing Bodies; and (3) How to Develop Healthy Bodies. The second section, Babies, contains: (4) Developing--Healthy Bodies and Healthy Eating; and (5) Learning and Doing--Healthy Bodies and Healthy Eating. Next, the third section, Toddlers, presents: (6) Developing--Healthy Bodies and Healthy Eating; and (7) Learning and Doing--Healthy Bodies and Healthy Eating. Finally, the fourth section, Young Children (Two-Five Years), concludes the book with: (8) Developing--Healthy Bodies and Healthy Eating; (9) Learning and Doing--Healthy Bodies and Healthy Eating; (10) Books to Share with Children; and (11) Parents, Carers and Educators Working Together Everyday for Wiser Lifestyles. A summary; and list of references/resources for parents and caregivers are also provided.
