Grade 4 Elementary School Proficiency Assessment (ESPA) Parent and Student Information Manual.
New Jersey State Dept. of Education, Trenton.
The Elementary School Proficiency Assessment (ESPA) is New Jersey's test for fourth graders. It is designed to give the school information about how well students are achieving in the areas required by New Jersey's Core Curriculum Content Standards. This guide offers parents and students information about the ESPA. Parent information, which is presented in English and Spanish, includes a description of the test, a discussion of who will be tested and the types of questions. The parent information section also discusses how to prepare a child for the ESPA, how long the test is, and how fair it is. Sources for more information are provided. The student information section, only in English, explains what the ESPA is, what the questions are like, what a student should expect, and what else a student should know about taking the ESPA. Sample questions, only in English, are included for science, language arts literacy, and mathematics. (SLD)
