This manual, intended for the parents of new pre-school students, presents information on the organization and curriculum of Alberta's French-language pre-school programs for native speakers of French. Written from the point of view of a fictional pre-school teacher, the manual responds to parents' frequently asked questions on topics such as daily activities, the use of French in the classroom, the linguistic, cognitive, and social growth of the student, and the role of the parent in his or her child's school life. With regard to the parents' role, the manual lists activities in the classroom that parents can help with, how parents should talk to their children about school, and suggestions for non-Francophone parents. The manual also lists further resources for parents on the Alberta curriculum. (JSS)
