Getting Equipped To Stop Bullying: A Kid's Survival Kit for Understanding and Coping with Violence in the Schools.
Boatwright, Becki H.; Mathis, Teresea A.; Smith-Rex, Susan J.
This book asserts that bullying is the basis of many life problems for children, particularly low self-esteem, abuse, and violence. This book's program aims to provide an understanding of the dynamics of bullying and to empower children to recognize and deal with bullies at a young age in order to alleviate the possible development of problems stemming from being bullied. The first part of the book is intended to help both bullies and victims deal with bullying and school violence. The book is designed to be user friendly for children, with vocabulary and illustrations to help children understand bullying and school violence. The second part of the book focuses on practical ideas victims and bullies can use to get equipped to stop bullying. This portion of the book is interactive, providing activities and mental health projects meant to be practical and thought provoking. The third part of the book contains intervention tools and ideas for adults to use while working with students to prevent bullying and school violence. (Contains 12 references.) (GCP)
