Inventory: 26 Reasons for Doing One
Braxton, Barbara
Teacher Librarian, v32 n4 p52 Apr 2005
A stocktake is a legal requirement that ensures that teacher-librarians are accountable for the money they have spent throughout the year. Including staff salaries, the library absorbs a large amount of the annual school budget, so it is essential that funds are spent wisely. Inventory is done at the end of each academic year as part of the collection evaluation process at a time when there is less demand for resources and most of the collection is available to the teacher-librarian to undertake the procedures. The author of this article has compiled 26 reasons for doing an inventory. Those reasons are listed in this article.
