Post-master's residency programs are one way academic and research libraries can prepare new library professionals and recruit minorities. A survey of 109 past residents analyzed ethnicity, race, and gender of librarians and type of library; characteristics of respondents and residency programs; attributes of supervisors; and position titles and concluded that such programs were valuable recruitment tools.
