Putting the Anatomical Doll Controversy in Perspective: An Examination of the Major Uses and Criticisms of the Dolls in Child Sexual Abuse Evaluations.
Everson, Mark D.; Boat, Barbara W.
Child Abuse and Neglect: The International Journal, v18 n2 p113-29 Feb 1994
Seven functional uses of anatomical dolls in sexual abuse evaluations of young children are identified: comforter, icebreaker, anatomical model, demonstration aid, memory stimulus, diagnostic screen, and diagnostic test. The relevancy of criticisms is shown to vary greatly by doll use. The continued, informed use of anatomical dolls in sexual abuse evaluations is strongly supported. (Author/DB)
