Health care providers recognize the importance of standards of care and standardized models of evaluation and intervention on cases of domestic violence. Examined are algorithms and care pathways being utilized to assure consistency in the evaluation and interventions offered where the spectrum symptoms of domestic violence are identified in the course of counseling. A review of the literature on the use of treatment guidelines is offered, as are treatment and legal considerations and community resources available to the counselor.
