This minicourse has been designed for counselors to use with "About High School, Book 4" of the Educational Opportunities in Virginia publications. It consists of a sequential series of six 45-minute classroom guidance sessions to be conducted with seventh grade students. The course focuses on helping students, with parent involvement, to make plans for high school. The sessions are on the following topics: (1) introduction to course materials and to decision making; (2) helping students and parents understand the types of high school programs of study, diplomas, courses, and special programs; (3) focus on special programs and activities; (4) career choices and programs of study; (5) career exploration; and (6) review of major concepts and course evaluation.
