At the request of the school committee of that town, this bureau made last spring a comprehensive survey of the schools of Winchester, Massachusetts, a residential suburban town near the city of Boston. The report of the findings of the committee making the survey, together with constructive criticisms and recommendations for the improvement of the schools, is contained in this bulletin. This report will be helpful not only to school officers, teachers, and citizens of Winchester, but also to school officers, teachers, and citizens in similar towns in all parts of the country, and to students of education generally. An index is included. Individual chapters contain footnotes. [Best copy available has been provided.]
