The Transforming Power of a New Vision. Adult Education Series. Discussion Paper Four.
Lethbridge Univ. (Alberta). Four Worlds Development Project.
Part of a series designed to help community groups engage in discussion on the possibility of individual and community transformation, this discussion paper explores fundamental principles of existence which have implications for a healthy and wholistic approach to the elimination of prejudice that will contribute to individual and societal healing and will ensure the well-being of native people and their communities. The principle of the interrelatedness of all things and the belief that all creation, including human beings, is in a state of constant change and growth are explained. The process of transforming present reality into a condition that more closely resembles one's vision of what is possible is illustrated by the medicine wheel. The capacity of the forces of volition and vision to change the world is examined. The text is intended to be read aloud by the group facilitator with frequent pauses for discussion. It is accompanied by a brief reading list, activities, and discussion questions to review what has been learned, explore aspects of the discussion more fully, and apply what has been learned to one's own situation and community.
