At the Intersection of Principal and Teacher Instructional Leadership: The Case of Donaldson Elementary
Stoelinga, Sara Ray
Journal of Cases in Educational Leadership, v13 n2 p21-28 Jun 2010
After 2 years of progress, the literacy initiative at Donaldson Elementary faces challenges because of a disagreement between Principal Joanna Jackson and Literacy Coordinator Loretta Sullivan over whether Sullivan's role should include evaluative classroom observations and whether teachers should be mandated to receive coaching. The case is intended to be used in courses or workshops that focus on the enactment of teacher leadership roles and on the process of developing shared leadership structures in schools.
