The new S. 118.13, Wisconsin Statutes, bans pupil discrimination in any curricular, extracurricular, pupil services, recreational, or other program or activity in the State of Wisconsin on the basis of sex; race; national origin; ancestry; creed; pregnancy; marital or parental status; sexual orientation; or physical, mental, emotional, or learning disability. Administrative rules, as embodied in chapter PI 9 of the Wisconsin Administrative Code, required each school district to have done the following by August 1, 1987: (1) review and revise its policies on nondiscrimination; (2) ensure a process to resolve complaints locally; and (3) follow through on compliance reporting procedures.
