Ohio Studies: Minimum Standards Leadership Series 1985.
Ohio State Dept. of Education, Columbus. Div. of Elementary and Secondary Education.
This monograph is designed to provide materials, ideas, and strategies for school districts and teachers to broaden and expand the standards and requirements of Ohio studies. Section 1, "Introduction" provides an overview of the monograph. Section 2, "Organizing for Instruction" gives several alternative approaches to designing an instructional program for Ohio studies: strategy 1 approaches the study of Ohio through the social sciences; strategy 2 views Ohio studies topically or thematically; strategy 3 utilizes the problem solving approach. Section 3, "Developing the Course of Study" provides direction in developing a course of study for Ohio studies. The components presented are relevant to the development of a separate Ohio Studies course or they may be integrated into K-12 social studies courses. Section 4, "Resources for Ohio Studies" lists textbooks, print material, media material, institutions, museums, historical sites, and restorations. Section 5 is a bibliography. (APG)
