Inflammation. Courseware Evaluation for Vocational and Technical Education.
Yarbrough, Stephen
This courseware evaluation rates the "Inflammation" program developed by Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon. (This program--not contained in this document--introduces students to the possible causes, signs, and protective benefits of inflammation.) Part A describes the program in terms of subject area (allied health, nursing), and hardware requirements (Apple II+, IIe, IIc), indicates its suitability for use as a tutorial for grades 11-adult, and gives a time estimate for use (30 minutes). Availability information includes cost ($5.00), loan policies (four weeks), and address of the seller, the Oregon Department of Education. Part B contains the evaluation criteria in eight categories; reviewer ratings appear as yes, somewhat, no, and not applicable, with explanatory comments. Part C summarizes the evaluation. This courseware received ratings of "yes" in the categories of subject matter technical presentation, student interaction, program interaction, and documentation; and "somewhat" in the category of student evaluation, because individual and class performance results are unavailable to the teacher. Work behavior and applications programs categories were not applicable. The program is recommended for use as a tutorial. (SK)
