A Pilot Test of the Effectiveness of an Integrated Sex Positive Education Program
Raymond, Natalie M.; Hutchison, Ashley N.
American Journal of Sexuality Education, v14 n3 p315-341 2019
This mixed-methods study investigated the effectiveness of a sex positive sexual education and violence prevention program: Relationships, Sexuality, and Violence Prevention (RSVP). Researchers tested the impact of the program among 63 college women. A series of one-way ANCOVAs tested the impact of the program on (a) positive sexual self-understanding; (b) sexual assertiveness; (c) attributions of blame; (d) sexual communication; and (e) self-defense self-efficacy, with results showing the treatment group improved significantly in self-defense self-efficacy. Thematic analysis was conducted on qualitative responses, and the identified themes described behavioral and attitudinal changes experienced by participants.
