A Prospective Study of Personality Characteristics, Occupational Stressors, and Burnout School Psychology Practitioners.
Mills, Lane B.; Huebner, E. Scott
Journal of School Psychology, v36 n1 p103-20 Spr 1998
Investigates the prevalence and antecedents of burnout in a large sample of school psychologists from North Carolina. Approximately 40% of school psychologists reported high levels of emotional exhaustion, 10% reported depersonalization reactions, and 19% reported a reduced sense of personal accomplishment. Results suggest personality variables related to burnout reports over and above stressful occupational events and demographic variables. (MKA)
