This study attempted to answer six questions: (1) What are the differences between the aptitudes of students aged 15.5 to 18.5 confined to the Industrial School as established by the General Aptitude Test Battery (GATB), (2) What are the differences as compared to the norms established by the California Achievement Test (CAT), (3) What are the differences as compared to those confined more than once, (4) Which occupational aptitude patterns are most prevalent, (5) Can the CAT and the GATB be used as measures of aptitudes and achievement of these students, and (6) Based on established occupational aptitude patterns, what type of curriculum would best meet the needs of the confined students. Based on the CAT, the total group was found to be retarded 3.7 years, and on the GATB they were found below the norms relating to intelligence, verbal, mathematical, and clerical perception, and above norms in manual dexterity and form perception. The type of curriculum suggested was a general vocational curriculum with stress on vocational guidance and a well-defined work experience program. (GEB)
