Implementing One-to-One Technology to Improve Student Achievement in Selected Illinois High School Districts
Cushing, Michael
ProQuest LLC, D.Ed. Dissertation, University of St. Francis
Over the last 30 years, public school administrators have spent a great deal of time and resources attempting to increase the achievement level of high school students throughout the United States. The purpose of this study was to quantitatively investigate and examine the relationship of one-to-one technology on the math and English achievement levels of high school juniors from the State of Illinois. The study was completed using a quantitative quasi-experimental design. The design measured the level of achievement on the America College Testing (ACT) test, in the areas of math and English, of high school juniors from high schools in high school only districts who had been exposed and not exposed to the implementation of one-to-one technology. An analysis of the data and results indicated that the implementation of one-to-one technology may have had an effect on the achievement levels of the high schools included in this study but not at a statistically significant level.
