Transparency and honesty in NHS policy making are still worth fighting for

Campaigners have lost their High Court challenge against the secretary of state for health and social care and NHS England over plans to introduce accountable care organisations (ACOs), which they argue will allow private companies a greater role in the NHS.
The action was brought by the campaign group JR4NHS, founded by three doctors and a university professor and supported by the late scientist Stephen Hawking, on two grounds—a lack of clarity and transparency, and the legality of the idea itself. But the court found that the law did not support either of the action’s claims.
