Inquiry into Mid-Staffordshire trust will look into “uncomfortable and difficult” issues

The chairman of the independent inquiry commissioned by the UK government to look into the care provided by Mid-Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust pledged this week that he would not shy away from examining “uncomfortable and difficult” issues. Robert Francis QC said that the inquiry would “ensure that all lessons from this period are learnt.”
He has been appointed to look into how a situation that has been called the worst NHS scandal since Labour came to power in 1997 was allowed to develop and to make recommendations to prevent a recurrence.
