About Author Details on IEEE Xplore
Author detail pages are constructed systematically. The following are details of how they are created:
- Author detail pages are available for authors who have published in IEEE journals and conferences mostly from 2000 to present (with select authors of articles going back to 1884).
- Photos and biographies are pulled from the most recently published article. Note that most photos and bios come primarily from journal articles, provided the information is submitted by the author.
- Only one affiliation can be shown on an author details page.
- Co-authors are sorted alphabetically by last name / surname.
Due to IEEE publishing policy, the following cannot be modified or are unavailable:
- Once a photo for an author is published, it cannot be removed from the document full-text (PDF or HTML). However, it can be hidden from the detail page upon request.
- Affiliations come from the most recently published article.
- Misspelled author names cannot be corrected on document pages if the error is in the published full-text. However, author names can be updated on author detail pages.
- We do not include author details for 3rd-party publisher content.
- Articles without full-text HTML are not included in author details.
- Early access articles do not link to author details. Only officially published articles are considered for author details.
Author Citations
Author citation counts on author detail pages are based on data from CrossRef. These citation counts include statistics from documents on those pages. This may exclude older documents without HTML formatting and content from books or other third-party content where IEEE is not the publisher.
Publication Topics
IEEE will be updating to an AI-based dynamic indexing tool to enrich the IEEE Xplore user experience. This will enable real-time indexing and linkages across the entire IEEE Xplore corpus as new content is added daily to enhance and accelerate content discovery. Dynamic indexing, author-supplied terms, and IEEE thesaurus terms will be leveraged by the IEEE Xplore search engine to deliver optimal relevance of search results.
This effort requires temporary removal of non-customized Publication Topics. Learn more about updating author profile details on the Author Profile Management page.
FAQs
Here are some frequently asked questions about author detail pages:
How do I include a link to my ORCID profile?
ORCID ids included in a paper or journal submission will generate a link from your details page to your ORCID profile. We can add an ORCID link on your details page on request. Learn more about ORCID.
Why can't I update my misspelled name on document pages?
Names online must appear exactly as they do in the original, published PDF. This promotes an accurate representation of the official, historical record and helps IEEE maintain data integrity of its databases.
Why is my picture not included in my biography?
If you did not submit a picture with an article or paper submission, a silhouette will be shown instead. IEEE Xplore displays the picture submitted with your most recently published works. If you would like to have a picture displayed, be sure to include one with your next submission.
