Abstract:

This amendment provides additional guidance on sizing margins that may be applied when nickel-cadmium batteries are used in stationary applications involving an element of charge-discharge cycling.
Purpose:
Nickel-cadmium batteries are often used in stationary applications where the ac power supply may be unreliable, resulting in an increased frequency of charge-discharge cycling. The extent to which available battery capacity may be affected depends on the frequency and depth of cycling, charging regime and the specific cell design. The guidance in this amendment assists system designers in correctly sizing batteries for such applications.
