Abstract:
This amendment defines modifications to both the IEEE 802.11 medium access control layer (MAC) and physical layers (PHY). Compared to IEEE Std 802.11™-REVme, it enhances the Fine Timing Measurement protocol to make use of 320 MHz wide channels available with the IEEE 802.11be PHY and MAC.
Scope:
This standard defines extensions to positioning mechanisms to support 320 MHz channel operation.
Purpose:
The purpose of this standard is to provide wireless connectivity for fixed, portable, and moving stations within a local area. This standard also offers regulatory bodies a means of standardizing access to one or more frequency bands for the purpose of local area communication.
